Luggage! ... and More Friends

The trip to Lusaka resulted in all the luggage being found - thank you Lord! Dar and Mindy are glad to wear something different after 3 days! Doug has an interesting story to tell about getting it, so maybe I will get him to post something in the next few days. After hearing his story, it's a wonder we ever get our right luggage when we fly!

Today was a quiet restful day for the rest of us, as we took a walk, read and chatted with one another. This evening we had an enjoyable evening at the home of Mrs. Dwabeke (that spelling is probably not right, but Dad is in bed, so it will have to do!) What a testimony she has! Her husband passed away in 1989 and her 8 children ranged from ages 3-17 at the time. She never remarried but raised all of them (one passed away) and when asked how she did it, she repeatedly said, "Only by the grace of God"..."He never fails"..."When there wasn't money or food, he always provided for us"..."It's only by the grace of God!" She was a school teacher, and then the Deputy at Choma Primary School (that was her position when my parents met her years ago.) Although she is now retired, and her children are grown, she still cares for children, by taking of orphan children and some of her sibling's children. She is also involed in educating people, both young people and adults, about HIV/Aids, which is a very serious problem here in Zambia. She fed us a wonderful dinner of chicken, sausage, nshima, rice and Chinese lettuce, and topped it off with tea and chocolate cake! After we were done, she asked Dad to read us a passage from the Bible, and we worshipped and prayed together, there in her living room. I was moved by her inclusion of this in her hospitality, and as we left, I found myself desiring to include this in our times of hospitality back home. What a joy to worship together, pray and be encouraged by the Word of God when we are in one another's homes...we were privileged to experience her hospitality as well as Biblical fellowship, centered on the goodness and faithfulness of the Lord, praising him for all he has done. One of the songs we sang together was "To God Be the Glory" - a favorite of mine, and the congregational song at our wedding 30 years ago :) Oh what a delight to worship with the saints here in Zambia - I am learning much from them.

To God Be the Glory, Great Things He has Done!

Beth,
I soooo much look forward to each update you are able to share with us and am really appreciating having a computer and the internet! I'm so thankful that all the luggage came through. I'm sure they would have survived, but how sweet to have your own clothes and stuff. I think it's wonderful that you're getting to meet so many dear friends of your parents and seeing the surroundings/sights they love.
God is good and God is great!
He can sustain us and knows our every need,
Love,
Jan
